POLICIES
Active participation is the key to success in this course. It is the students' responsibility to check the CANVAS site regularly, go over the course materials very carefully, and complete all quizzes and homework before the due dates.
Quizzes may be assigned on the day of the class and are due by 11:59 pm on the same day.
Homework is normally assigned on Friday or at the end of a chapter and is due a week from the assignment date. The homework must be handwritten and scanned into a legible PDF file before submission. The homework will not be graded and the students receive full credit for a problem if reasonable efforts to solve the problem are demonstrated. Failure to submit the homework before the due date will result in a zero for the set of homework and failure to attempt one particular problem will result in a zero for that problem.
At the end of each part, students-created quizzes will be assigned. Everyone will be required to create original quizzes that include questions, answers, and justifications (solutions to arrive at the correct answer and reason to wrong answers). The students created quizzes will be graded by the instructor based on the quality of questions, answers, and originality.
Unexcused late assignments will not be accepted. Always contact the instructor as soon as possible if you believe you will need extra time for an assignment.
There are no makeup quizzes or exams without specific prior approval.
There is no extra work during, or after, the semester ends in order to bring up a grade.
ACADEMIC DISHONESTY
Academic integrity is fundamental to the activities and principles of a university.
All members of the academic community must be confident that each person's work has been responsibly and honorably acquired, developed, and presented.
The academic community regards breaches of academic integrity rules as extremely serious matters.
Sanctions for such a breach may include academic sanctions from the instructor, including failing the course for any violation, to disciplinary sanctions ranging from probation to expulsion. When in doubt about plagiarism, paraphrasing, quoting, collaboration, or any other form of cheating, consult the course instructor.
STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
If you anticipate barriers related to the format or requirements of this course, if you have emergency medical information to share with me, or if you need to make arrangements in case the building must be evacuated, please let me know as soon as possible.
If disability-related accommodations are necessary (for example, a note-taker, extended time on exams, captioning), please establish an accommodation plan with the MU Disability Center, S5 Memorial Union, 573-882-4696, and then notify me of your eligibility for reasonable accommodations.
